Photo Scanning Preparation

Relax, It’s Simple!

You don’t have to organize them in any way if you don’t want to. There is also no need to count your photos. Our photo scanning software does the counting for you! Here are a few requests and suggestions to make the project go more efficiently:

Step 1 – Remove Photos

Please remove your photos from envelopes, photo albums, frames, page protectors, etc. Leaving slides in carousels is fine. Please remove slides from metal frames. There is an extra charge if we have to remove them, or scan photos in albums. (See pricing)

Step 2 – Remove Tape/Adhesive/Post-it’s

Please remove any tape or adhesive strips from edges. For photos that have sticky areas, please cover with tape and keep separate from the others. For the photos you had developed from the drugstores that came in books, please cut the strips off that are attached. Don’t pull them off, as that will leave a sticky strip on the edge. If you wish, you may leave the strips on, and we will crop them out after scanning for $.10 apiece.

Step 3 – Place Groups in Plastic Bags/Boxes, etc. (optional)

If you desire, we can put each group of photos in a different folder for you. The best method we’ve seen is to put each group in a zipper-bag and write the name of the group on the bag with a permanent marker.

Step 4 – Remember Your Contact Info

If you are shipping, please include your name, address, and phone number in the box (es). We also recommend lining the inside of your box with plastic or putting your photos in plastic bags.
